$130,000 allocated for development of infrastructure of baku

572 bn manats or $130,000 was allocated from the public budget for 2005 to development of the infrastructure of Baku city. It was said at the workshop on problems of development of the city and new strategies in Azerbaijan held on Friday, Trend reports.

The workshop was organized by the Public Management and Finances Centre (PMFC). In his remarks, Fuad Jafarli, the Director of the Centre, said that the figure allocated for Baku city was not enough and weak realization of the reforms in the sphere hindered increase of incomes of the cities.

Jafarli noted that the analysis carried out by the PMFC experts in Hungary, Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan revealed that the municipal government in Azerbaijan was behind other countries. “It particularly become apparent in authorities of municipalities,” he added.

Jafarli underlined that lack of strategic plan of big cities and nonparticipation of interested groups in municipal government decreased effectiveness of solution of problems.
