7th monitoring on revealing of bird flu in Azerbaijan starts

The seventh monitoring on revealing of bird flu in Azerbaijan started, Ismayil Hassanov, the head of the State Veterinary Service under the Agriculture Ministry, said on Tuesday, Trend reports. The monitoring is conducted by special commission consisting of the specialists of the Service, Health Ministry, Ecology and Natural Resourses Ministry, Azerbaijani Hunter Society.

According to Hassanov, the specialists regularly pay a visit to the countries, where the virus was revealed. Azerbaijani virologists have appropriate trainings in such countries as Italy, Russia, French and Turkey. Hassanov noted that the Service purchased $100,000 laboratory equipment for DNA test at expense of the funds allocated from the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan. The equipment will be installed on 23 January, while the specialists will study the principle of operation from 24 January, he stressed.

All border-veterinary points turned to intensive control at the state borders from August 2005. Besides, ban imposed on fowling and sale of living poultry at markets.
