Intercontinental Hotels Group becomes operator of Holiday Inn hotel at Baku airport

AZAL state air company of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry signed a memorandum with the British company Intercontinental Hotels Group on transfer to management of the first of Holiday inn hotels in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

Jahangir Asgarov, the General Director of AZAL, said that the state air company was currently implementing a construction of new airports in Lankaran, Ganja, Zagatala, while the construction of airport in Nakhchivan is complete. Similar hotels will also be built in these airports, he underlined.

Holiday inn hotel is located at the International Baku Airport named after Heydar Aliyev and is built at the order of the private Azerbaijani company Silk Way. The new hotel will have 194 apartments, 8 VIPs, one President-luxury rooms and 4 rooms for disabled. The construction work is scheduled for completion early September 2006.

The Turkish company Ziman Insaat is involved in the construction work. It will host not only the passengers flying by airliners of AZAL and other companies, but also a summer staff of airliners landing in Azerbaijan. The budget of the hotel project is $17m.
