Russian company eager to build an aluminum producing plan in Azerbaijan

Russkiy aluminum joint stock company plans to build a new aluminum plant with the capacity of 300,000 tons a year, Abbas Abbasov, the Azerbaijani first vice premier, told journalists.

Abbasov said that the total amount of investments needed for functioning of the plant, expansion of infrastructure and construction of power stations will exceed $1bn. Due to insufficiency raw material supply, additional materials will be imported from Guinea. At present the place for construction of the plant is under consideration, he underlined.

Meanwhile, a protocol of the 10th session of the intergovernmental Azerbaijani-Russian commission notes that Russkiy Aluminiy is ready to launch talks on establishment of energy metallurgic company in Azerbaijan on the base of enterprise of Azerbaijani Aluminiy JSC of closed type. The key objective of the talks is the establishment of aluminum and aluminum oxide, power stations, as well as high-technology enterprises on production of oil coke, fabrication of constructions and foil package.
