ADB mission en route

A mission of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) headed by the Director of the ADBs Social Infrastructure Department, Robert Vitol is to pay a two-day visit Azerbaijan on Friday. Matthew Westfall, the head of the Baku office of the ADB, told Trend that the visit is paid within the framework of a project on development of social infrastructure regions and improvement of living conditions of refugees and IDPs.

The mission will get familiar with a report developed by consultants and prepare a letter on approval of the project. They will so design a final version of the project, define its compРѕnents and value to make it ready for submission to the government.

In 2006 the ADB plans to approve credit for improvement of the social infrastructure in the regions of the Azerbaijan. As of preliminary data, the financing by the bank will comprise $25m. Under the technical assistance of the ADB provided within framework of Alliance of Cities, the regions to be included in the social project have been defined. Some 9-10 regions were selected (Barda, Sumgayit, Shaki, Ganja, Goychay, Agdam, Agdam, Mingechevir, etc). The project will be implemented with participation of municipalities and other sides which re also involved in the development of the social infrastructure.

In May the ADB asserted approval of $500,000 grant for assistance to the implementation of a project which was set up in December.
