A senior expert of the Statistic Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Michael Silver, arrived in Baku on Tuesday, Baku Office of the IMF told Trend. The major objective of the visit is to render assistance to the State Statistics Committee (SSC) in the development of a new methodology on calculation of consumer price index (CPI).
According to experts, the existing methodology on calculation of CPI is very difficult and with this respect IMF expert will
speak about experience of the countries to select more reasonable version.
The visit paid within the framework of the IMF assistance to the SSC will last by 3 March and it is planned to hold meetings at the SSC and the National Bank of Azerbaijan Р"РѕСЃРєРѕРјСЃС'Р°С'Рµ.
The IMF has rendered technical assistance to the SSC since 1993 on the methodic part. Experts of the IMF visit Azerbaijan every quarter to get familiar with the national accountability system and they are mostly interested in the price statistics.
