Azeri Agriculture Ministry won't allow import of low-quality product, Ismat Abasov

The Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry will not allow import of low-quality product, Trend reports quoting Ismat Abasov, the Agriculture Minister. He was commenting the situation on ban of zebu meat import.

According to Abasov, the meat, purchased at a tender, was envisaged for the servicemen of the National Army.

The agreement was signed with Indian Alnur Export on purchase of 2,750 tons of frozen beef on 21 December 2005.

In early February the specialists of the Astara Veterinary border point detained the good at the border. The veterinarians revealed that it was not beef, but zebu meat, Abasov stressed.

Prior to purchase of product from any company, we conduct research on epizootic state in the producing country. To our knowledge several more cars, loaded with meat, are at the border, the Minister concluded.
