The agenda of conference is still to be defined. Avez Alekperov, the Azerbaijani minister of finances, the co-chairman of the AzerbaijanUS intergovernmental working group, has recently held a meeting of co-chairman, with Tom Adams, another co-char of the group.

The present condition of bilateral economic relations, and macroeconomic situation in the country were of focus of the talks. The upcoming conference will center on the expansion of economic cooperation between US and Azerbaijan, financial aid from American government, improvement of the investment climate, fight with corruption, transparency of macroeconomic situation in the country (growth of oil revenues, GNP and inflation).

Meetings of the working group are held two times a year once in Baku and once in Washington. The last one took place in the United States on November 29. Problems of financial aid granting to Azerbaijan and the ways to solve them were under the active discussion during that meeting. In general, the United States have supported the reforms conducted in Azerbaijan and expressed its readiness to render assistance. Azerbaijan is expecting to receive aid for the financial sector development, insurance, banking, border control (a lot of problems are identified in that regard), for refugees, agriculture and reforms in education and healthcare systems. US government is ready to help; however, it can not exceed the allowed limits. A number of problems still exist regarding the incomplete liquidation of Section 907 applied on Azerbaijan.
