WB to sign a memorandum on restructuring of IBTA-2 within struggle with bird flu after its approval

A memorandum on restructuring of credit within the World Banks (WB) 2nd project Institutional Building Technical Assistance (IBTA-2) is under consideration of the Board of the bank, the WB Baku representation told Trend. The saved 3.56m SDR (approximately $5.13m -$5.14m) of the credit will be aimed at struggle with bird flu. The WBs mission led by Maurizio Guadagni, the chief specialist on development of agricultural areas, paid a visit to Baku to draw up the project. It completed the work on 11 March.

WB will sign an annex to the credit agreement IBTA-2 after approval of the memorandum by the Directors of the bank, which will take around 10 days. It will allow acceleration of implementation of the project on struggle with bird flu.

The credit was mainly envisaged for acquisition of equipment to strengthen technical base of the State Veterinary Service, laboratories. The specialists of WB are currently working on the details of the annex. WB intends to reconsider the issue, taking into consideration inclusion of the veterinary component into the 2nd phase of the banks agricultural project and allocation of the funds from the public budget for the Service. The 2nd component on health also envisages purchase of equipment, organization of trainings, rehabilitation of laboratories.
