In 2008 Baku Metro plans to commission new stations

The Baku Metro plans to commission new station in 2008, Trend reports referring to Taghy Ahmadov, the head of the state enterprise. According to Ahmadov, the construction work was suspended in 1989. 14,400,000 AZN was allocated for these purposes at the instruction of the Azerbaijani President.

The funds will be spent on construction of the subway stations between 6th and 9th microdistricts along the MemarAjami line.

The stations are planned to be put into exploitation in August or September 2008, Ahmadov underlined.

The same time, the construction of the subway line in the direction of the airport is still open, no progress is achieved in the issue.

Touching upon the subway line from Sumgayit, Ahmadov said that the construction of 26-km express railway at the territory is more expedient than the subway line.
