WB starts final evaluation of the healthcare reforms

The World Bank mission headed by the world healthcare expert and the project head, Enis Barish starts its visit to Baku on April 18 in order to finalize the evaluation of the healthcare system reform project, the WB local office head, Saida Bagirli told Trend.

After the end of evaluation, the project will be approved at the Bank` s directors council, that is to take place in 2006 financial year and will last till June 30, 2006. The official talks between WB and the

Azerbaijani government on credit agreement are expected to be held this May.

The bank is ready to provide $40-50m on beneficial conditions from the International Development (IDA) means for the implementation of the given project. The rest will be provided by the government.

The project expansion is planned in connection with the plans to build several (5-10) hospitals in some pilot districts. The project also plans to build a number of medical clinics in the rural districts.

Barish` s visit will last till April 21. The preparations are done via WB $450.000 grant.
