Azerbaijan's Marine Administration staff approved

Staff of Azerbaijans Marine Administration is expected to be over 30 people. Cabinet of Ministers, which is currently preparing all procedures on this agency, has worked out the administration establishment rules, Trend reports with reference to governmental officials. Duties of Marine Administration today are executed by temporary agency operating at Caspian Marine Line.

Marine Administration established by Presidents order is covering activities of all agencies that possess marine vessels and operating in Caspian Sea and other regions. It shall represent Azerbaijan in international organizations, in particular IMO, as well as regulate relationships among entities operating in Azerbaijan and overseas. Nearly 34 agreements have been signed between Azerbaijan and IMO to date. Newly established Administration is to supervise these agreements.

At the moment the largest vessel owner is Caspian Marine Line that possesses ferries, tankers, dry cargo ships and special vessels. Besides, vessel-owners are Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (research vessels), В"KaspmornefteflotВ" (vessels operated by oil companies) and State Border Guard Agency of Azerbaijan, as well as private fishing companies.
