On April 25 chairman of State Customs Committee (SCC) Aydin Aliyev received Colin Stringer, chief consultant on Customs Code modification, Trend reports with reference to news release of SCC.
SCC works on Code modification together with United Nations Development Program and the European Union.
At the meeting, SCC chief stressed the necessity in modification of legislation in customs sphere, bringing to guests attention that first time Customs Code in Azerbaijan was approved in 1997, based on foreign countries experience. During the last 9 years Azerbaijan joined numerous customs conventions. In a view of these processes, a necessity arose in modification of legislation in customs sphere.
In turn, Stringer expressed his hope for completing all necessary operations for drawing new version of Code as per the international standards in time, adding he was sure the works would be done successfully, especially at cooperation among highly skilled customs experts.
At the meeting, other matters of mutual concern were also spoken of.
