Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan discussed debts

At the IV session of Azeri-Kazakh intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation held April 29 in Baku, the Ministries of Finance and national banks of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan were assigned to draw and coordinate the draft on rebilling $8.5mln debt as an interest-free loan to Azeri government with repayment during 2007.

Trend reports that the rest of the debt at Как $84mln will be considered at the level of enterprises.

Kazakh Ministry of Finance suggested signing intergovernmental agreement on rebilling $16.9mln debt as a state credit to Azeri Government, and such agreement providing for repayment of $8.5mln in hard currency during 2006 and $8.4mln by transporting Kazakh hydrocarbons and other cargos via Azerbaijan or any other services.

In turn, Azeri side insists on division of debts amount by two parts with repayment of $8.5mln in hard currency and recognition of $8.4mln as enterprises debts.
