Ganja airport upgrade and reconstruction is complete in June 2006, Azeri governmental officials told Trend. This project costs some $39.5mln. It is executed at state budgets and AZALs cost. The project covers elongation of runway, replacement of outdated control systems and reconstruction of airport building.
Further, it is planned to reconstruct airports in Lankaran, Zagatala and Sheki at budget and AZALs cost. Reconstruction operations in Lankaran airport already launched.
Recently, AZAL has reconstructed airport in Nakhchivan.
