Kazakhstan and China take interests in Kars-Akhalkalaki project Georgian Minister for economic development

Along with Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, China and Kazakhstan will also join the Kars-Akhalkalaki project, Trend special correspondent reports quoting the Georgian Minister for Economic Development, Irakliy Chogovadze, as stating.

Our objective is to build such transport corridor, which will enable Georgia to increase transportation via the ports and expand the number of participant countries, Chogovadze stressed.

He noted that the project is considered in the contest of Europe-China context.

Touching upon the perspectives of the project in whole, Chogovadze said that for the time beingthe Kars-Akhalkalaki railway route is in the stage of consideration.

The minister is also surprised with the fact that the United States is considering the issue on inexpediency of the participation in the project of the American capital.

For the time there has not been established a consortium, while details of the project are still to be accorded. So, it is too early to speak about the participation of US companies the project, he underscored.

In case the United States refuses from financing the project, the good economic calculation promises financing by other financial institutes the EBRD, IFC, the Black Sea Bank for Development, others.
