According to State Statistics Committee, during January-May 2006 Azeri transport sector carried 54.1mt of various cargos, up 9.8% over year, Trend reports. From total amount of cargos 53.3% fall for privet sector. During five months, 50.5% of cargos were transported by motor transport, 15.6% via pipelines, 23% by railroad and 10.8% by sea.
Passenger transport carried 420.1mln people during the reported period, up 5.4% over year.
Railroad transport carried 12.4mt of cargos, up 29.1% over year.
Marine transport carried 5.9mt of cargos, up 3.3% over year. Two-thirds of transported cargos fell for oil products and oil.
Amount of cargos processed in Azeri ports in the reported period made 2.9mt, up 8.2% over year. From total amount of said cargos 81.9% are transit ones. Alongside, imported cargos amount rose in 1.9 times.
