During January-June 2006, the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan revealed 2,415 violations. Trend reports with reference to SCC press service, 77 out of 2,415 cases have been of a criminal nature, 71 people have been apprehended as suspects.
Among the crimes were currency contraband, and customs authorities seized 1.66kg of gold, 161 golden things, $46,020 and 5,200 forged dollars.
Besides, during this period customs authorities seized over 4,302,420 cigarettes, 42 liters of spirit and so on.
SCC agents seized 65kg of caviar, 1,630 liters of oil products, 16.5kg of Armenian coffee and other goods.
