ADB Credit Upgrade of water supply system and sanitary services in Agdash, Goychay and Nakchivan to take effect by end of July

By the end of July, the credit agreement between Azerbaijan and Asian Development Bank (ADB) regarding the project of Upgrade of water supply system and sanitary services in Agdash, Goychay and Nakchivan is expected to enter into force, Trend reports quoting ADB Baku office. For the purpose to get familiar with the beginning of implementation of the project, the ADB mission headed by the chief specialist on development of cities Shakil Khan will pay a visit to Baku by end of this week.

The experts of the bank mentioned the existence of progress while Azersu JSC announced a tender for involving a consultant. It responsibilities include to design the project in detailed form, prepare tender specifications for the involvement of contractors and make control on the implementation of the project.

The project amounts to $39.9 mln. The Asian Development Bank has disbursed a credit in amount of $30 mln to finance the project. And the remaining $9.9 mln will be paid at the expense of Azerbaijani government. During the realization period of the project up to 2010, it is planned to hold structural reorganization for the development of the water supply and infrastructure in Agdash, Goychay and Nakchivan. For the institutional reforms, other consultants are also involved the consortium which includes New Zealand Company Castaliya and Azerbaijani AzSpetsPromInvest Consulting Engineers.
