First Azeri-Tatar intergovernmental commission to assemble in short

The first session of Azeri-Tatar intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation is held August 1 in Baku, Trend reports with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers. Tatar co-chairman is Tatarstans Prime Minister Rustam Minikhanov. Azeri co-chairman is still to be advised in a couple of days.

At the session, the Statement on commission and day agenda will be approved. The agenda includes discussion of trade and economic cooperation and humanitarian issues. Governmental officials suggest great potential for trade operations extension, confirmed by half-year totals. During 6 months of 2006 trade turnover between the countries rose in 3.4 times and amounted $25.7mln.

The commission will also discuss setup of joint ventures for oil equipment manufacture, as well as development of ties in humanitarian, health protection and education sphere.
