Eight countries paid off their shares for financing TRACECA IS

Today, eight countries out of the number of the participants of the transport corridor TRACECA paid off their shares in financing the works of the interstate secretariat (IS) of this organization, Akif Mustafayev, the national secretary of TRACECA from Azerbaijan, told Trend. And the remaining four countries are resolving the procedure questions and right after this, they will transfer the finance, he told.

The annual finance of IS is estimated at 600 thousand euros. By 2005, this finance was delivered by the European Commission. In 2005, the participant countries disbursed 7 th. euros for this purpose and the remaining part was financed by the European Commission. From 2006, the financing of IS will be realized at the expense of participant countries. Each country has to day down 50 th. euros. The finance of Tajikistan and Kirghizia was paid by European Commission. If the ratification of the agreement of Afghanistans joining the transport corridor is realized this year, then the finance of this country will also be born by European Commission.

It is intended that this year European Commission will finance the projects within TRACECA totaling 13.5 mln euros. Within all periods of the works, European Commission has allocated 160 mln euros for financing the project, 16 mln of which were paid for the share of Azerbaijan.
