Azerbaijan Honey Production in 2006 Forecasted at Volume of 11,000 Tons

The production of honey in Azerbaijan is forecasted at the volume of 11, 000 tons in 2006, the Chief of the Department of Production, Processing of Cattle Breeding Production, Livestock Breeding and Pastures of the ministry of agriculture of Azerbaijan republic Chingiz Farajov told Trend.

According to him the Ministry could manage to increase the number of swarms of bees from 100,000 to 105,000 this year. The average productivity of each makes up more than 10 kg of honey.

The people engaging in beekeeping are about 10.000.

On the whole, the Ministry to increase the honey production in Azerbaijan from 40,000 tons with the increase of the number of swarms of bees up to 500,000 the next years.

The Ministry of Agriculture thinks that the regions have all necessary conditions for increase in the honey production. For example, there are such areas which have all the needed for production of honey, but they have not been used. Just due to these regions` engaging in this field the honey production is expected to increase in Azerbaijan soon. The beekeeping in Azerbaijan is mainly developed in such districts like Dashkasan, Lerik, Yardimli, and others.

In 2005 the production of honey in the country makes up 10,000 tons, on 5,000 tons more than in 2004.
