No trolley-bus functions in Azerbaijan

According to State Statistics Committee, in January-July 2006 Azeri transport sector carried 78.1mt of various cargos, up 9.5% over year, Trend reports. From total amount of cargos 54.5% fall for private sector. Over the first half-year, 52.1% of cargos were transported by motor transport, 14.5% via pipelines, 22.8% by railroad and 10.5% by sea.

Passenger transport carried 596.9 million people during the reported period, up 5.5% over year. 83.9% of all passengers were transported by private sector.

Rail transportation carried 17.8mt of cargos, 26.9% more than 2005.

Marine transport carried 8.2mt of cargos, up 6% over year. Two-thirds of transported cargos fell for oil products and oil, while the rest on dry cargo. 99.6% of cargo transportation fell on international operations.

Amount of cargos processed in Azeri ports in the reported period made 3.7mt, up 6.8% over year. 82.5% of the total cargo was transit cargo, which demonstrated 0.7%-rise. Alongside, import cargo rose 1.5 time and export cargo 1.8 times.

40.7 million tons of cargo was transported by automobiles, which is 6.2% more than 2005. the passenger transportation made up 501.8 million men (rose 5.4%).

In this period passenger transportation by metro rose 6.5% and made up 91.2 million people. The transportation by trolley-buses has been stopped since July 2006.

Passenger transportation via airways grew 8.5% and made up 700,400 million people. 5.2% of entire transportation was implemented by private sector.

In January to June 24.1 million tons of cargo has been transported via the Eurasian corridor, which exceeded the last year figure by 10.5% and comprised 35.8% of entire cargo deliveries to the country.
