Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company to Establish State-of-the-Art Shipbuilding Facility in Azerbaijan

Today Aydin Bashirov, the Chief of the Azerbaijan Shipping Company hold a meeting with the South Korean representatives on the issue of establishment of the new shipbuilding and shipyard company in the country, and the possibility of carrying over of the Baku International Sea Trade Port outside the City, the Press-Service of the Shipping Company told Trend today.

The delegation consisting of 14 persons have arrived in Baku to take part in the negotiations. They have already got acquainted with the Shipbuilding Plant named after the Paris Commune located in the Baku Bay, and the Sea Port. The issue of the possibility of carrying over of the Baku International Sea Trade Port outside the City was raised by the President during the meeting devoted to the Caspian Environmental Protection

Issues.

The South Korean party will prepare feasibility study of the project. Then an international tender is planned to be held. The winner of the tender will be the company which can propose more advantageous terms and the shortest term of the project`s implementation. Up to date companies of Turkey, Italy, Poland, and other countries have already shown their interest in this project.

According to the preliminary estimation the new shipbuilding plant can located in Garadagh, but the Sea Port in Zikh. All this needs the area not less than 20 hectares. One of the terms the State Shipping Company laid down was the establishment of the enterprise with not less than 3,000 employees to be meet all international standards. The plant to build state-of-the-art vessels with the further possibility of their exporting to other countries of the Caspian.

All types of vessels Azerbaijan need (dry cargo ships, tankers, yachts, and passenger ships) to be built by the new shipbuilding facility. The warship building is not excluded either.
