The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan started preparing the seventh session of Azeri-Iranian intergovernmental commission for economic co-operation that should take place by the end of 2006.
Elmar Mamedyarov, Foreign Minister and co-chairman of Azeri part with the commission, told Trend the notices to the related ministries and agencies of the country had been dispatched in order to collect opinions on the session agenda.
В"It is no good to hold session just for itself, so we should first of all make a serious work with other ministries and define the daily agenda. Since we are neighbors, the agenda is quite big. There are some issues being worked out now but it is difficult to say anything specific without previous consultations with other ministries and agenciesВ", said minister.
During 1993-2005 Iranian businessmen invested $356mln in Azerbaijans economy. Iran considers useful to arrange production of cement, agricultural technique, turbines for power plants and so on in Azerbaijan. With this purpose Iranian minister offered to create the joint Investment Fund.
During the June visit of Iranian Industry and Natural Resources Minister Alirza Tahmasebi to Azerbaijan, Iran ha performed with the idea on Azeri-Iranian Investment Fund. This issue will also be discussed at the session of intergovernmental commission.
