Latvian-Azerbaijani Business-Forum Will Take Place in Riga on October 5

A Latvian-Azerbaijani Business Forum will be held on October 5 in Riga within the official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Latvia.

The Forum is planned to bring together 60 enterprises specialized in the processing of foodstuffs, the production of construction materials, chemical industry and other areas, Trend reports. Direct negotiations will be organized between Azerbaijani and Latvian enterprises. The Forum is organized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development and Azerbaijan Export and Investment Foundation (AZPROMO) in co-operation with Latvian representatives.

The first Latvian-Azerbaijani Business-Forum was held in Baku on 4 October 2005 within the visit of Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga to Azerbaijan. Last year the Forum was attended by 150 Azerbaijani and 50 Latvian entrepreneurs who entered into co-operation agreements.

Last year Latvian exports to Azerbaijan totaled $4.134 mln, an increase of 35.2% from the previous year and import from Caucasian countries of $2.428 mln, an increase of 2.5 times. Supplies mainly from the chemical industry (54.55%), metals and similar products (15.66%) and cattle breeding products (10.3%) have been imported from Latvia to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan exported mineral products (37.29%), foodstuffs (35.13%) and chemical products (24.67%) to Latvia.

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will stay in Latvia on a visit from 4 - 5 October. He will arrive in Riga on 3 October.
