The second annual conference on the topic Credit Unions Social and Economic Efficiency is expected to be held in Baku on October 27, 2006, Azerbaijan`s Credit Unions Association (ACUA) told Trend today. The arrangement will be organized by ACUA with the financial assistance of ACDI\VOCA, the executor of the project Support of Small-Scale and Medium Entrepreneurship through Development of Financial Sector, which is financed by USAID.
The main aim of the forthcoming conference is celebrate the International Day of Credit Unions. In this connection, it is proposed to acquaint the Government`s members, donors and the population with the role of credit unions in economic and social life of the country, their role in resolving social and economic problems (in the regions` development, elimination of poverty, the IDPs returning to their homes on the liberated lands, development of crediting of the agriculture).
Moreover, an issue on founding a stable united network of Azerbaijani credit unions from a financial point of view will be considered during the forthcoming arrangement. The leaders of these unions will get acquainted with the international credit unions` advanced experience as well. In addition, the credit unions` interest lobbying under the support of the Government`s representatives is expected to take place.
Representatives of Azerbaijan`s Cabinet of Ministers, Milli Majlis (Parliament), national Bank, Economic Development Ministry, Finance Ministry, as well as diplomatic representatives offices to Azerbaijan are expected to participate at the forthcoming conference.
