Kars-Akhalkalaki Project Expected to Commence in 2007

The Azerbaijani Transport Minister, Ziya Mammadov, stated on 13 October that the commencement of the Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku project is scheduled for early 2007. He stressed that the document will be certainly implemented.

I hope the talks that I am going to hold with the Georgian Minister for Economic Development, Irakliy Chogovadze, will be successful. We will continue considering the project, the Minister stressed.

The project will be great significance for deliveries in the region. At the same time it will enable to carry out cargo transportation via the territory of Turkey and Europe. At present the construction of a tunnel under the Bosporus channel, which will carry out the communications, is underway Mammadov underscored.

The sides are currently considering the financing, Mammadov underlined.
