A first meeting of the Azerbaijani-Italian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is expected to be held in Baku on October 20. According to the Economic Development Ministry, during the forthcoming meeting, perspectives of cooperation between the two countries in such fields as trade, investments, agriculture, industry, culture, health care and protection, labour market will be considered, Trend reports.
Heydar Babayev, Azerbaijan`s Economic development Minister will be the Co-Chairman from the Azerbaijani side. Famianno Cruchaneli, Deputy Italian foreign Minister will be the Italian Co-Chairman of the upcoming meeting of the intergovernmental commission.
Italia is Azerbaijan`s key foreign trade partner, and has taken the first place in this list for a long tome. In January-August, 2006, the total volume of export and import operations of the country, Italy's share was 26.3%. The volume of export in this period was $1 756.6 m. The volume of import operations was $85.003 m.
