Azerbaijan`s State Statistics Committee has launched working out a new State Program on further improving the state statistics that will be considered for 5 years (2008-2013), Trend reports. During the today's press-conference Arif Valiyev, Chairman of the State Committee has told that the parameters of the new program have not been determined yet, and that it is proposed to come to an agreement on these proposals first with all interested parties, and only then them to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Country for their further concordance and consideration.

The duration of implementation of the current five-year program on improving official statistics in Azerbaijan is to be completed in 2007. Today, the country's state statistics system meets international standards by 95 percent. However, these 95 percent are also developed. This is the third program implemented in this field, Mr. Valiyev thinks.

The Head of the State Statistics Committee thinks that up to now, all the tasks being set have been fulfilled. The actions stipulated by the State Program are being taken at the expense of the following three sources of financing: the State Budget, technical aid within EU TACIS program, and Switzerland's Statistics Bureau. About 300-500 m. AZN are annually assigned from the State Budget for these aims.

In 2007, the State Committee is about to begin preparation works for elaborating intersectoral balances within the measures scheduled in the program. Proposals on holding a next census of enumeration in 2009 have already been submitted to the Government of the Country. Lat year, census was held in the agriculture.
