The visit of Leading Economist of the World Bank for Azerbaijan Christos Costopolus begins from October 30, to discuss the reports regarding the realization of the Poverty Reduction Support Project in Baku. The project was terminated in June 2006 due to the refuse of the Azerbaijani government to receive two remaining tranches, Trend reports with reference to the WB Baku Office. The cost of the project amounted to SDR 60 mln that was planned to be obtained through three tranches. However, the country received only one tranche totaling SDR 20 mln.

Irrespective of the refuse from the tranche, it was decided to realize the agreed actions specified in the project, but without institutional frameworks. A common economical review will be held within the visit of the WB Expert. The forecasts for macro-economical and fiscal indicator for 2007 and the program of the state investments will be considered with the government.

The visit will last till November 10.
