New Mustang to include sedan and wagon versions?

(autoinsidernews) - According to reports, Ford is considering expanding the Mustang brand beyond the coupe and convertible models to include four-door sedan and wagon bodystyles. Autocar, citing unnamed high-ranking sources, said the new models will be added when Ford introduces the next Mustang. Earlier this week, we showed renderings of the next Mustang, which is expected to feature styling cues from the Giugiaro Mustang concept (shown).

Ford is also expected to turn to its Australian arm for a new architecture on which to base the Mustang. Ford Australia is developing a new rear-wheel drive platform for the Australian market Falcon, which could be used for Mustangs and other Fords, including Lincolns, reports Trend.

Lincoln will unveil a rear-wheel drive concept, which is expected to be based on the next-generation Falcon platform, at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show.
