(autoinsidernews) - Car and Driver broke the embargo on Jaguar's XF Concept that will be shown at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Car and Driver's February issue hit the street ahead of schedule, reports Trend.

The XF Concept is a complete departure from Jaguar's historic styling cues. The XF dumps the company's quad round headlamps, and the classic Jaguar grille. In their place is a vehicle, which features some styling cues from Aston Martin, especially in the tail.

The XF Concept is powered by the S-Type R's supercharged 4.2L V8, which is good for 400-hp, but the production version will have several engines available. The production model will have a higher, less-sloped roofline, since the XF will compete with the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class, rather than the Mercedes CLS.

Overall, it is a huge improvement over the current S-Type. We can't wait for the official reveal on January 3rd.
