This week the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development expects to receive a structure on the formation of cement prices from the only cement producer in the country, Garadagh Cement. Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Minister for Economic Development, informed Trend that a new price of cement will be determined soon after the prices, including expenses for energy, salaries and others, are submitted.
"If Garadagh Cement wants to co-operate with us it should, and not the Ministry, present a structure of the new prices, taking into consideration that the margin rate between distributors and dealers will condition the price for sale by dealers, Mr. Babayev said.
Azerbaijan has a demand for cement products and Garadagh Cement covers only 50% of the country's demand.
In this respect it is necessary to transfer mutual relationships commercially with all markets with whom Azerbaijan imports cement.
Cement is a product which can be imported from Ukraine, Russia, Jordan, Iran and Turkey. Entrepreneurs should search markets for its import into the country. Garadagh Cement cannot physically increase its production of cement, the Minister said.
