Baku Metro JSC is facing a great demand on its services from passengers of the Capital that does not comply with the number of chip cards made to be used as a mean to pay the services in the Baku Underground.
As Elbrus Mouradov, the Chief Engineer of the Baku Metro informed Trend today, that the check system is being used to solve the difficulties emerged with the lack of chip cards in the metro.
Those passengers, who do not have a chip card, receive a cheque that allows them to enter the underground. The price of the cheque is equal to the fare вЂ" 0,05 manats (5 gapiks), The datum of the carriage is put both to the terminal and the subway united server, he said.
The Baku Metro carries some 560.000-580.000 passengers per day.
428.000 chip cards were ordered for passengers of the Baku Underground. It must have been sufficient if each passenger entered the subway at least two times a day. However, there has been a need in some other 70.000 cards. The Metro have already received them, and they are being tested to be further delivered to the passengers, said Mr. Mouradov.
One chip card costs 2 AZN. Today, the fare in the Baku Metro is 0,5 manat (5 gapiks) per one passenger, and this is the World's cheapest subway fare.
