WB Mission Keeps On Preparing a Project to Improve Water Supply and Collection System in Azerbaijan Towns

A mission of the World Bank (WB) headed by Andreas Rodeau, the Chief of WB Group of Projects is expected to visit Baku on January 19, 2007 to continue preparatory work for a project on the improvement of the water supply and collection systems in towns of Azerbaijan.

Trend has been informed at the WB Baku Office today, that the forthcoming visit of the WB mission will last till January 18. Components of the project are expected to be made more precise during the visit.

The project totally covers 20 districts of the country. A feasibility study has been prepared in ten of the regions. The other ten are expected to be involved to the project later, however, everything will be carried step by step, and the preparatory work will begin when physical work in the regions is complete.

According to the WB Strategic Partnership with the Azerbaijan Government for 2007-2010, in Financial 2007, WB will grant a credit of $220 mln. to Azerbaijan to improve its water supply and collection systems. Other $200 mln. are expected to be given to Azerbaijan to develop its national water supply and collection systems in Financial Years of 2008 and 2010.
