New Pontiac G8 to feature Solstice inspired front end

(autoinsidernews) - While there is no doubt that General Motors will debut a Pontiac new sedan based on the Australian-built Holden VE Commodore, what the car like when it reaches the U.S. as the Pontiac G8 is up for debate.

While the Detroit Free Press has reported that the G8 will get a unique grille only, Automotive News is expecting that the G8 will get front end styling similar to Pontiac's Solstice roadster. The Solstice-inspired front end will feature entirely new sheetmetal forward of the A-pillar, reports Trend.

General Motors appears to be trying to avoid the mistakes made when it tried to rebadge the Holden Monaro, and sell it as the Pontiac GTO. The GTO was criticized for its conservative styling and sales never met the automaker expectations. While offering unique Pontiac styling sounds like a good move, we aren't sure the roadster's rounded styling will work on the Commodore.
