Record in Industrial Development for Azerbaijan in 2006

The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan highlighted the continuation of the dynamic industrial development in Azerbaijan in 2006, as in previous years.

The amount industrial production in Azerbaijan in 2006 equaled AZN 14,4 bln, an increase of 36,6% from 2005, Trend reports quoting the statement of the Statistics Committee. It is the highest achievement in the history of industrial development of Azerbaijan.

The real industrial growth over the past fours years has doubled (average annual growth вЂ" 19,6%) this places Azerbaijan amongst countries with the highest indicators.

The growth in the industry of the production of cars and equipments is 56,4%, in extractive industry - 44,7%, in furniture production вЂ" 21,3%, in production of electric and electronic equipments вЂ" 20,6%, in chemical industry - 14,9%, in metallurgy and production of ready goods from metal вЂ" 9,1%, in production of the foodstuffs вЂ" 4% and in production of oil productsвЂ" 2,3%.

95,5% of the industrial production falls under commodities and 4,5% service.

The share to non-state sector in 2006 of the industrial production equaled 76,7%. The growth in the non-oil sector was 51%, against 3,9% in the state industry.

For the reported period, the number of employees in the industrial sector reached 164 300, an increase of 5,7% from 2005. The increase in private sector amounted to 14,4%.

The average monthly salary of each employee amounted to AZN 266 (an increase of 25,6%), in extractive industry вЂ" AZN 644 (an increase of 31,1%), in the refinery industry вЂ" AZN 142 (22,5%) and in production and distribution of the electric power, gas and water вЂ" AZN 145 (24,4%).
