Azerdamiryolbank is expected to issue chip cards of the both international payment systems- Visa and MasterCard.
Jalal Orujov, the Executive Director of the Processing Center вЂ" Millikart, informed Trend that the certification of the chip technology of the bank in MasterCard will be completed this week. The Bank has already commenced distributing new cards to its clients. They were issued for the three currencies вЂ" AZ, USD, and EUR.
Work on the certification in the other payments system - Visa has been completed by 90%. The payments system is to fix the date of the registration of the chip cards of Azerdamiryolbank. I think the permission for the bank will be accepted till the end of the next week, said Mr. Orujov. At the same time, Azerdamiryolbank will become the first issuer of the chip cards of the both systems via Millikart Centre.
According to Roman Amirjanov, the Chairman of the Board of Azerdamiryolbank, the chip cards first time will be combined with a magnet and chip tape, since time needs to reequip the infrastructure. Some 33.000 cards are expected to be issued in the two systems.
