Final Cost of Tbilisi-Baku-Kars Project to be Agreed in Baku

Discussions will take place in Baku on January 23rd over financial questions of the project of the construction of the railway Tbilisi-Baku-Kars, by experts from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey a Government source informed Trend. The aim of the meeting is to finally agree on the cost of the project and it's financing.

The Georgian delegation headed by the Chief of the Railways, Irakli Ezukbay, has arrived in Baku to discuss the details of the project. The delegation also includes representatives of the Georgian Ministries of Finance and Justice.

The project on the building of the transport railway corridor Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku includes the construction of a railway line from Kars to Akhalkalaki with a distance of 98 km, 68 km of which will be in Turkish territory and 30 km in the territory of Georgia. Some reconstruction work is needed on the railway section Akhalkalaki to Tbilisi. The value of the projects is estimated at $400 mln.
