(autoinsidernews) вЂ" As we reported a few months ago, Ford is developing a DOHC 4.6L V8 niche engine for use in future special edition, high-performance Mustangs, including upcoming models likely called the Bullitt or Mach 1.

According to StangsUnleashed.com, the new 4.6L DOHC V8 will deliver around 400-hp in naturally aspirated form. The new engine will feature an aluminum block, GT type cylinder heads, and special intake and exhaust manifolds, reports Trend.

Ford's next special edition Mustang is said to be targeted as a road-racing Mustang вЂ" versus a drag-racing model. The Bullitt/Mach 1 Mustang will be positioned between the Mustang GT and the Shelby GT500, and will feature upgraded brakes and a handling package developed by Ford Racing.
