The Azerbaijan Labor and Population Social Protection Ministry keeps on taking measures to maximally avoid the impact of the recent increase in prices on energy carriers and tariffs on public utilities, Trend reports.
Fuzuli Alakbarov, Azerbaijan Labor and Population Social Protection Minister said today that the incomes of the population have increased by the recent decrees and orders made by the President of the Country, and that people is totally protected from negative effect of the increase in the prices and tariffs. The compensation will protect them against the recent increases in prices on consumer goods as well. Additional incomes at the level of 7-13% on average have been presented to certain categories of the population in order to eliminate the impact of the recent rise in consumer goods.
Totally 15 kinds of social allowances are available in the country. Each of them increased by 5-10 AZN. According to the Minister, changes to the mechanism on granting the address of social allowance are also under preparation. It will be changed with taking into consideration the recent advance in prices on energy carriers and tariffs on public utilities. The changes envisage the following: the amount of the allowance will increase by 5 AZN for each person of the family considered poor. Starting from January 15, 2007, the criterion of need has been fixed at the rate of 35 AZN.
