The research of the samples taken as a result of the last monitoring to prevent the penetration of bird flue to the territory of Azerbaijan was completed on January 27. Trend reports referring to the Sate veterinary Service of the Azerbaijan Agriculture Minister, that the pathological material of 37 wild bird and 39 poultry, as well as 690 samples of the blood of birds taken from different farms were collected during the last monitoring. No carriers of bird flue virus were detected in the samples. Due to this fact, the Sate Veterinary Service still considers expedient to keep poultry in closed premises and say that the prohibition on hunting, selling, and eating meat of wild birds still remains in force. Despite of the above-mentioned, during raids and spot-checks conducted by the Service, it was found that hunting and selling of wild birds are still available in the Village of Gumbashi of Lankaran District and the Village of Tazakand of Masalli District of Azerbaijan. It is inadmissible, since the meat of these birds may contain the virus.
