The Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan, Huseyn Avni Garsioglu, briefed the media on February 2nd that all technical questions on the project of opening Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway have been resolved and the official signing ceremony of the trilateral agreement between the governments of Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan will take place on February 7th, Trend reports.
For two and a half years, I have worked as a responsible officer for the Caucasus and Middle Asia at the Foreign Ministry of Turkey. I have used up a lot of energy for the Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars project. Opening this railway will be of great happiness for me, the diplomat said.
The Ambassador said that the construction of the railway will begin in June/July 2007, adding that the construction may be postponed until August.
