Azerbaijan does not purchase poultry products from Great Britain where the death of birds due to the virus bird flu was noted recently, Trend reports referring to the State Veterinary Service of the Agriculture Minister of Azerbaijan.
According to information from the International Epizootic Bureau, the death of birds in Great Britain was due to bird flu. Noted cases in one poultry farm in Suffolk
Presently poultry products to Azerbaijan are imported mainly from Turkey, USA, Canada and partially Brazil. Products from Great Britain are not purchased now or nor were they purchased earlier, the same source stated.
To prevent the infiltration of the bird flu virus into the country, all frontier veterinary points are operating on medium security, the prohibition on hunting, sale and eating of wild birds in the Country still remains in force, as well as the import of poultry and poultry food into the country from those countries where cases of the virus have been detected.
