Azerbaijan Investment Company, US Company Discuss Prospects of Cooperation

On February 14th the Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC) hosted a meeting with a delegation from US Greylock Capital Management.

Anar Akhundov, AIC Executive Director, informed Trend that this is the first visit by a US company to Azerbaijan after a presentation that the AIC held in the United States in December 2006.

Mr. Akhundov said that the meeting focused on opportunities for investing in projects in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan. They are interested in participating in all big projects and are ready to consider all variations. Investments can be put in company's stock or, Mr. Akhundov noted.

Greylock will wait until AIC comes out with definite projects. During the current visit AIC detailed some projects, while it will only be possible to appeal with concrete projects after the signing of a memorandum of intention, the AIC Executive Director clarified.

Last year Mr. Akhundov visited the United States to inform leading investment companies on the potential of development of the Azerbaijani economy and on a favorable investment environment, as well as expansion of the investor network for attracting capital to the non-oil sector. Along with Greylock, J.P.Morgan, BCP Securities, Bear Stearns, and many other leading investment companies also displayed an interest in joint finance projects with the AIC.
