Azerbaijan Government and WB Sign Protocol as Result of Negotiations on Foundation of Cadastre

Official negotiations on the credit agreement within the project on foundation of the cadastre in the country held between the Azerbaijani Government and the World Bank (WB) were a success, a source in the World Bank Baku Office informed Trend.

Negotiations were planned for 15-16 February, but was delayed due to the necessity to determine the components and cost of the project.

According to the WB Local Representative Office, the protocol, as a result of negotiations, is currently being signed with the Azerbaijan Government. The beneficiaries of the project who are expected to sign are the Azerbaijan Economic Development Ministry, the Finance Ministry and the Ministries of Taxes and Justice.

The credit is expected to be approved by the WB Board by the end of the first half of 2007.

The WB project will cover all the systems of registration in the country, however, some pilot projects will be included as well.

The beneficiaries of the project are: the State Immovable Property Register within the Cabinet of Minister of the Country, the State Committee on Land and Cartography, State Property Committee and the Justice Ministry of the Country. The project envisages the registration of property, the preparation for the cadastre of maps and strengthening of the state property governance system.
