Amount of WB Credit on Improvement of Water Supply and Collection System in 20 Azerbaijani Towns Known

The official negotiations on the credit agreement within the project on improvement of the water supply and collection systems in 20 Azerbaijani towns have been preliminarily fixed to March, 2007, a source in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Country informed Trend.

The exact date will be known after the Azerbaijani party completes an audit of the WB first water project вЂ" Water Supplying Big Baku.

The parties agreed to introduce 20 Districts of the Country to the project. Work on preparing a feasibility study has commenced in 10 Regions. Aghdam, Bilasuvar, Goranboy, Guba, Khachmaz, Zagatala, etc are among those.

The project totally covers 20 districts of the country. A feasibility study has been prepared in ten of the regions. The other ten are expected to be included to the project later, however, everything will be carried step by step, and the preparatory work will begin when physical work in the region is complete.

According to the WB Strategic Partnership with the Azerbaijan Government for 2007-2010, in Financial 2007, WB will grant a credit of $220 mln. to Azerbaijan to improve its water supply and collection systems. The other $200 mln. is expected to be given to Azerbaijan to develop its national water supply and collection systems during the Financial Years of 2008 and 2010.
