Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Babayeva/ Azerbaijan suffers cadre shortage in wine making, said Vidadi Veliyev, executive director of Agro-Azerinvest LLC. The company has taken under its aegis the wine making school established under agricuture academy of Ganja that produces young specialists in agrar, wine making management, которая готовит молодых специалистов по направлениям - агроном, менеджмент виноделия, technologist/production engineer and other spheres.
Agro Azerinvest has planted a considerable part of the vine plantations in Azerbaijan in the last 2 years. Khanlar, Samukh, Tovuz, Gabala, Yevlakh and other regions received the plantations. At present the company possesses 1,5 thousand hectares of vineyards. Over 1 thousand tones of havest is on the 2007 plan for Khanlar region. Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan forecasts 100 thousand tons of vine production in Azerbaijan.
2006 vine production rate in Azerbaijan was at 86 thousand tones, 4 thousand tones more against 2005..
