Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Government of Azerbaijan confirmed the initial list of countries to hold bilateral negotiations in the near future on Azerbaijan's entrance into the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and Head of the Negotiations Group, Mahmud Mammadguliyev, stated that negotiations are planned with Turkey in April with regards to commodities. Turkey offers to liberalize the commercial regime, especially customs tariffs. Mammadguliyev feels that due to the new proposals on services presented by Azerbaijan to the WTO Secretariat, negotiations will possibly be held with the USA and European Union in April-May. "It may take place during the fifth session of negotiations of the working group in Geneva, but if the process is delayed the meeting will be organized later," he said.

According to him, in its proposals, Azerbaijan has tried to make reasonable concessions as long as the liberalization of the market is moving in a significant direction to attract investments into the country. In addition, the liberalization should be made in accordance with the protection of the internal services and maintain the competition, Mammadguliyev said.
